Glendale Mayor Recovering from Quintuple Bypass Surgery

Glendale, Arizona (February 4, 2021) – Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers is recovering from a successful quintuple bypass heart surgery. His doctors expect him to make a full recovery and to release him within the next week.

The Mayor underwent the surgery today after being admitted to St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center on Monday, February 1, following a visit to a local urgent care. In the meantime, Vice Mayor Ian Hugh, will continue to fill in as dictated by the city charter, to ensure smooth city operations.

"I can’t thank everyone enough for all the messages to both Sandy and I, wishing me all the best throughout this tough situation,” said Mayor Weiers. "I am also grateful for the surgeons and medical staff here as they have done an excellent job every step of the way.”
