Dancing guitars in Murphy Park
The city kicks off a month of live concerts with Live! @ Murphy Park. Downtown merchants have their own gig going, with Guitar Art.
The city provided the merchants with full-sized guitar cutouts and supplies and invited them to share what music means for their businesses. The results were 40 colorful one-of-a-kind hand-decorated guitars (decorated on both sides) will hang from the trees and "dance” to the synchronized music and colorful tree lights in Murphy Park though May. Glendale gets ready to celebrate Live! @ Murphy Park concert series.

Live! @ Murphy Park concert series
A series of free concerts in the Murphy Park Amphitheater every Thursday – Sunday of the month, starting Thursday, May 6. The outdoor amphitheater supplies a perfect setting to spread out, relax and enjoy the rhythm of spring nights. It is an opportunity to experience the talent and diversity of the local music scene with family and friends under the stars, as each night, a different band takes the stage. You can enjoy the blues with the soulful sounds of The Sugar Thieves one week, then check out Beatles’ hits with Marmalade Skies the next. If some rockin’ country is more your thing, try Mogollon, or roll with some classic rock and pop with American Idol contestant, Henry Thompson & the KC Angels Band. With Live! @ Murphy Park there is a style and a band for every musical taste.
Glendale is the perfect venue for both pre and post show fun. There will be no sales of food and beverages in the park during the concerts. All concerts are free of charge and begin at 7 p.m. in the amphitheater. There is space for social distancing. Guests are free to wear a mask and to please stick with their group. Murphy Park is in the heart of downtown Glendale at 58th Avenue and Glendale, with plenty of free parking.
