GLENDALE DAILY PLANET

We must protect public media now if we want our communities to continue to benefit from its services.

There are services that we cannot live without. For me, and hundreds of millions of Americans across the country, it’s public media. It’s where our children and families learn and grow, becoming better neighbors and citizens. It’s where we turn to for trusted news and public safety information.

The coronavirus pandemic jeopardizes the future of your public media stations. We have a choice: act now or see the consequences of inaction unfold. Today, I am asking you to act.

We must protect public media now if we want our communities to continue to benefit from its services. When you send your message, think about the millions of students who are able to learn safely from home, regardless of device or internet access, because public media stations teamed up with local education authorities and educators to broadcast classroom content. Think about your community – and remote and rural communities across our nation – that depend on public radio’s news coverage and often have no other sources of local news.

Public media makes a difference in the lives of all Americans, and it’s worth saving.

The greatest expression of your commitment is your action. Please take two minutes to register your support for your local public media stations with your elected officials.

We are so grateful that you are a public media advocate. Thank you for making your voice heard.

Sincerely,

Tim Hagood and the Protect My Public Media Team
